Leaders In Training (LIT) Program
Are you interested in pursuing a career in teaching or would like to expand your own dance education? The Leaders In Training (LIT) Program is open to students 12 years or older who love working with younger children and want to assist teachers in our younger classes. Teaching Assistants play an important role in running successful classes at FDC, as they improve the teacher-student ratio and help classes run more smoothly.
Students interested in applying for a volunteer teaching assistant position must submit a letter of application. Acceptance into the program is based on a review of the application letter, overall enthusiasm and attitude in dance classes, and individual dance ability and technique. Students must demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and the personality to work with children while maintaining an acceptable level of expertise in their own training.
Requirements for the Leaders In Training (LIT) Program
- Acknowledges responsibility to be a role model and positive example both inside and outside the studio
- Minimum age: 12 years old
- At least 4 years of dance training
- Commitment to volunteering for the year (September – June)
- Agrees to follow dance uniform policies at all classes
- Has parent/guardian approval to participate
- Must maintain academic grades at a level required by the parent/guardian
How to Apply for an Assistant Position
- Must complete the online assistant training course (link provided after acceptance of application). This course costs $20.

- Must submit an essay on why you want to be an assistant teacher at Fox Dance Company.

Program Commitments
As part of the LIT program, Teaching Assistants must:
- Attend meetings throughout the year
- Complete their certification and projects throughout the year
